Ashley Morgan

Post-Doctoral Research Associate

Ashley Morgan joined OHI as a post-doctoral research associate this January. She received her degrees in Marine Science and Biology at the University of Miami before attending Veterinary School here at UT where she obtained her DVM and a Masters in Public Health. After graduating, she worked as an Emergency Clinician for several years before starting a PhD at Florida Atlantic University studying health parameters, environmental toxicant burdens, and toxicologic histopathology of Florida pompano.

She has a passion for working with students and investigating how environmental toxicants impact the health of humans, animals, plants, and the environment. We’re excited to have her join the team to continue working with experts across varying disciplines to answer questions about health and conservation.

She is a Knoxville native and is currently majoring in Wildlife & Fisheries with a Health Concentration and a minor in One Health. She is interested in pursuing a graduate degree and has a particular interest in marine biology and marine ecosystems. She is currently working on a project investigating the impact of nest temperature on the health of Leatherback sea turtles.

She received a full scholarship to The UCLA Diversity Project program this summer and will be traveling to California to conduct marine science and conservation research while working alongside a network of diverse marine scientists and conservation biologists. She will be returning to continue her research with OHI this fall.
